Best Hybrid CarsBest Hybrid Cars - This all depends are what you are after, great fuel economy, buying American made or the top selling hybrid car?Currently the highest selling hybrid car is the Toyota Prius which far outsells other hybrids. For example in August 2010 the Prius sold almost 12,000 units and the next best hybrid was the American made Ford Fusion which sold 3,010 units.
Our view is that the Toyota Prius is the best hybrid vehicle available in 2010 based on quality of build, fuel economy and style. Depending on which mileage figures you use, the Prius achieves upto 60MPG US and tops our list for Green Cars due to the lowest greenhouse gases produced of 2.97 tons / year. Whereas the Ford Fusion gets around 40 MPG US and emits 3.80 tons / year, admittedly the Fusion is a larger car which suits America's current demand for large cars, but in the longer term America will have to change to suit the peak oil situation. Don't get us wrong we love the Ford Fusion, it still is a great car and much greener than any non-hybrid. Hopefully we should shortly be able to add the GM Chevy Volt to this page very soon, and hopefully it will top the list of green cars.
