Toyota Electric Cars
The Prius hybrid has been a very popular seller for Toyota but when will Toyota electric cars hit our roads? Toyota said in late 2009 they will release a full battery electric powered car in 2012.So far they have shown two concepts the FT-EV which is based on the iQ city car and the FT-EV II (Future Toyota Electric Vehicle II) shown at the October 2009 Tokyo Motor Show which is a ground up design EV. The FT-EV II uses a lithium-ion battery giving it an expected range of 56 miles (90 kms) and seat 4 persons. Toyota also has plans to mass market the popular Prius model as a PHEV-10(PHEV-16 km) (Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) by 2012.
