Here we have the amazing Tesla Roadster electric car, named after Nikola Tesla, inventor and electrical engineer from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Roadster went into production in 2008 and is produced in small numbers in the United States due to its pricing of US$109,000.

The Tesla was entered in the Global Green Challenge in outback Australia in 2009 and travelled a world record distance on a single charge of 501 km (311 miles).

The Roadster has supercar like acceleration from 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) in 3.7 seconds. Based on the Lotus Elise chassis from the UK but with a carbon fiber body.
