Green Car Research
find the "History of electric cars" or "How hybrid cars work".
Here we will provide green car research by answering questions such as "What year was the 1st electric car made?" and "How to hybrid cars work?".The car pictured here is the Jamais Contente electric car built in 1899, and was the very 1st car to break the 100 kph speed barrier. Camille Jenatzy a Belgian race car driver drove the Jamais to a top speed of 106 kph. Hybrid cars also have a long history with early versions appearing in the late 1800's, Ferdinand Porsche's 2nd car was a hybrid. Within just a year or two there is going to be a large selection of greener cars to choose from, so maybe it is worth holding off purchasing a new gasoline car until some of these offerings are available.
For example the GM Volt or Chevy Volt will be available in late 2010 in the US. If you can't wait then probably the cleanest car available in the US currently would be the Tesla Roadster electric car if you only need to seat 2 people and the Toyota Prius hybrid
if you want a practical 5 seater. If you live in Europe you already have a number of green vehicles to choose from including the Citroen C1 electric car, Fiat e500 electric, G-Wiz electric car, Toyota Prius hybrid, and many more, check out the full UK green car listing. Australia now has a choice of the Toyota Prius hybrid 3rd Gen. 3.9 l/100km, the Ford Fiesta Econetic 3.7 l/100 km, the Mitsubishi iMiEV (not rated at time of writing) or the Blade Electron electric car (not rated at time of writing).
